As part of our winter focus we have made some snowmen to take home. I used the foam cut outs that you can get from places like The Works and Poundland as a base and then provided glue, googly eyes and lots of scraps so that the children could decorate them as they wanted.

We talked about the colours and shapes of the scraps, how many eyes the snowmen might have, what their buttons would look like and loads more. Lots of descriptive language while they play makes learning new words very relaxed and natural. Expanding vocab without the child even realising!

These are our finished items. You can see how different they all are. The eldest child added the most eyes which I was not expecting! They like to keep me on my toes!
