Little “H” is 11 months old and started with us this week. I am currently making notes and observing his starting points for his learning journey.
He is quite apt at feeding himself with finger food and using a lidded beaker. He is also keen to try with a spoon and does get some food in his mouth.

He is also very physically able in his movements and gets around the house with out too much hindrance or frustration. He can pull himself up to furniture.

He can crawl around downstairs and manage small single steps or obstacles.

He is a very sociable child and loves to interact, cuddle, laugh and play with adults and children.

He is not happy about nappy changes and is not keen to lay still while I undress him or change him. We sing and use tickles as a distraction.

He has a strong exploratory impulse and loves being outside. He pulls at the grass using his thumb and fingers in a pincer movement.

He loves swinging, especially when the bigger children push him.

    • offer spoon at meal times for self feeding practice.
    • Walk him around holding my hands or a walker.
    • Use the nappy changing song to help with nappy changing transitions.

Today’s play, meets the following EYFS Prime and specific areas:
    • Communication and language
    • Physical Development
    • Personal, Social and Emotional
    • Understanding The World
