Here is a lovely Autumn/ Harvest craft that is easy enough for little ones to manage and really make their own with minimal adult help
You will need:
- Paper plate
- Orange paint
- Green paint
- Apple cut in half (Top to bottom)
- 2 forks
- white paper
First you cut an apple in half from top to bottom. you then stick a fork in to each half so that children can easily hold on to the apple when they dip it in to the paint and then print it on to the paper.
Pour some orange paint on to the paper plate and some green paint in to a little dish or bottle top.
The children are then encouraged to dip the apple half in to the orange paint and print it on to the paper. This looks like a Pumpkin!
Once there are several pumpkin shapes on the paper, the children can dip a finger in to the green paint and make little stalks on each one!
The lovely thing about this craft is that each child can manage it by themselves. Although there will be several pumpkin pictures on display that are very similar, they have all been made by the individual child and have not been mass produced using pre cut bits of paper that must be stuck in the “Right” place.
The children could always use different colours if they wished. We could have red or green apples! Orange pumpkins, Little fat purple plums! Use your imaginations!
Use different fruit and veg if you fancy and see what you could turn them in to.
To extend this activity you could give the children red and yellow paint and see if they can mix their own shade or orange!
