Second week of the school holidays have not seen so bright and sunny. Several showers of rain each day and to top it off, both my boys have caught coughs. So we didn’t venture far from home. Trips to the park and local fields for a run around, playing in the garden and on Monday we made a den in the local woody area in our village.
We went with another childminder from the village. She was great and had old blankets and tarpaulin as well as some wonderful den building pegs, which I will be investing in for future den building fun!

We started off with a picnic for snack time and then once everyone was refueled, we had a run around and explored our surroundings. There was a lovely area with trees in a log row that created a low tunnel for us to run and crawl through!

Soon we found the perfect clearing for the Den! Not too many stingers and the perfect trees to make a frame with!

This is not my usual method of encouraging peace in my setting….. he did it to himself!

Looking good! Time to play in it!

Looking for more sticks!

Found some!

We enjoyed some lovely imaginative play in our den. We made a pretend campfire with sticks and then a child made us all some fish stew! We pretended we all had a plate and he dished it up for us and gave us all some fresh bread to eat with it! YUMMY!!!
And because we were under the trees, we didn’t really get wet when it rained!
