What started as a game or Dr’s with the Dr’s kit, suddenly took a turn in a new direction. A completely child initiated direction. Little “R” started to try and cut little “L”s hair with the plastic scissors and asked for a brush. She pulled out a chair and instructed her to sit down!
Little “L” was very happy to follow these instructions and let little “R” brush and snip away for a good few minutes. I had a quick think and ran upstairs to grab a child’s brush and comb and a couple of hair clips and a basket to pop them all in.
Having boys, and not being a very girly girly myself, I did not really have much to offer to extend this interest but found what I could and took it to the girls to see what they would do with the few treasure I had to offer them.
We practised using the clips. These are a bit tricky and require strong fingers and a pincer grip movement. After some persistence and the use of 2 hands, they managed to get a couple of clips in to the hair.
I showed them how to put pony tails and they enjoyed taking them out again!
We swapped places happily and took turns to be the hair dresser.
We even found deely boppers!!
I have popped to the pound shop over the weekend and filled the basket with lots of new and exciting clips, extensions and combs so that they can really get carried away when they play with it this week!
