CHRISTMAS FINE MOTOR ACTIVITY. Prezzie sorting!

Who fancies helping Santa with his prezzie sorting? EVERYONE!!
I ordered some of these little decorative gift boxes from Amazon. They were only a couple of pounds for a large pack and came in a mixture of colours. This activity was first offered up as a simple transferring activity. Using the tweeters and moving the parcels from one basket to another.  A great way to work those finger muscles ready for writing!

As time passed I altered it slightly and asked the children to group the parcels by colour. Then for the older children we started to organise each colour group in order of which had the most and which had the least.

A fun addition to this would be to add a small wooden slay as the second basket so that children are filling Santa’s sleigh. Sadly I didn’t have one.

This activity does need to be supervised as the one time I left it unsupervised, the children unwrapped all my boxes……. oppps!

This activity meets the following areas of the EYFS:
