BUG HUNTING AND MINIBEASTS!

The small world play areas are getting lots of use in this sun!!
Little “R” is often found with a magnifying glass in her hands checking out the pots and plants to see what is hiding in there. Sometimes it is a real bug and other times it is a plastic one!
She chatters about what she has found, naming the bug and telling me where it wants to live, what colour it is or counting how many legs it has!

CHARACTERISTICS OF EFFECTIVE LEARNING:
Little “R” is playing and exploring. Finding out about her world and enjoying what she set out to do. She practised her numbers and counting by counting the legs on the bugs and also her colours while talking about what each bug looked like. Making links to past knowledge and finding out new things.

Today’s play, meets the following EYFS Prime and specific areas
  • Communication and Language
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
